Henna Brows Training Course – Develop your brow styling skills with our IPHM-accredited Henna Brows Training Course at Sammys Aesthetics Beauty & Training. Learn to create defined, fuller-looking eyebrows through professional colour selection, brow mapping and controlled henna application.
This course guides you through the complete treatment, from the first consultation to the finished result and aftercare. You will learn to work with each client’s natural colouring, hair growth and preferred style, helping you create an individual result.
Choose online learning with assessed case studies or blended learning with supervised practical training in Galgate, Lancaster. Both options include theory, a knowledge assessment and practical competency requirements.
Why Add Henna Brows to Your Services?
Henna brows provide another colouring option within your brow treatment menu. Professional brow henna colours the visible eyebrow hairs and temporarily stains the skin beneath them, helping enhance shape and definition.
The temporary skin stain can make sparse areas appear fuller, while careful shade selection allows you to create a softer or more defined finish. Henna does not create new hair growth or permanently fill gaps, and the result varies between clients.
Learning to assess suitability, select an appropriate shade and apply the product precisely helps you offer this treatment with clear expectations and professional care.
What You Will Learn
Understanding Henna Brows
Discover how henna brow products colour the hair and stain the skin’s surface. Understand the treatment’s benefits, limitations and the factors that influence the finished appearance.
You will also learn why the word “henna” does not automatically mean a product is entirely natural or allergy-free. Professional formulations vary, making product knowledge and manufacturer instructions essential.
Skin, Hair and Treatment Retention
Explore the skin and hair structures relevant to brow colouring. Learn how natural skin-cell shedding causes the temporary stain to fade and how the eyebrow hair growth cycle affects the appearance of coloured hairs over time.
Consider how oiliness, dryness, dehydration, sensitivity and hair condition may influence colour uptake and retention. This supports realistic advice about results without promising a fixed wear time.
Consultation and Informed Consent
Learn to establish the client’s desired shape, shade and level of definition. Consultation covers relevant medical history, medication, allergies, previous reactions, skincare and recent treatments.
Develop your ability to explain the treatment process, possible reactions and aftercare before obtaining informed consent. The course also addresses separate photography permissions and accurate client records.
Contraindications and Patch Testing
Recognise when treatment must be declined or postponed, including positive patch tests, previous allergic reactions, active infection and damaged or irritated skin.
Understand how to follow the selected product’s patch-testing requirements and record the product, shade, batch number, test date and result. Learn why a negative patch test cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur.
Colour Theory and Shade Selection
Explore warm, cool and neutral tones and their relevance to brow colouring. Assess natural eyebrow colour, scalp-root colour, skin undertone, grey hairs, density and hair condition.
Learn to use the manufacturer’s shade guide, mix compatible shades within the approved system and record the combination used. Shade selection considers both the colour on the hairs and the temporary skin stain.
Brow Shape and Mapping
Develop brow designs that complement natural growth, facial features and client preferences. Learn to aim for balance while respecting normal asymmetry and preserving natural brow density.
Use the separate Sammys Brow Mapping Guide alongside this course for detailed mapping support. The mapped shape and intended result must be agreed with the client before application or hair removal.
Complete Treatment Procedure
Follow the treatment sequence from preparation and cleansing through to mixing, application, processing and removal. Learn to work neatly within the mapped outline, control colour placement and create a softer brow front where appropriate.
Mixing ratios, processing times and removal methods follow the chosen manufacturer’s instructions. You will also learn to monitor comfort and skin response and recognise when treatment needs to stop.
Aftercare and Evaluation
Provide clear advice about water exposure, skincare, makeup, rubbing, heat and swimming according to the product used. Explain how the skin stain and hair colour fade differently.
Learn to recognise reactions requiring further advice, document the outcome and evaluate your technique. Reflection supports continued improvement in application, colour selection and treatment planning.
Online Learning Option
Complete the theory and knowledge assessment through home study, then carry out three case studies on three different clients.
Each case study must include consultation and consent forms, patch-test evidence, clear before-and-after photographs, product and treatment records, aftercare and a written evaluation.
Your evidence is submitted for tutor assessment. This option requires practical work and feedback; completing the theory alone does not result in certification.
Blended Learning Option
Complete your home-study theory and knowledge assessment before attending a 1.5-hour practical session at our salon in Galgate, Lancaster.
The session includes a tutor demonstration, product preparation, shade selection, brow mapping guidance and a supervised treatment on a live model. Your tutor will observe your practice, provide feedback and assess competence.
