This blended course combines online theory with hands-on classroom practical training, allowing you to learn the essential knowledge at your own pace before developing your technique under tutor supervision.
What You’ll Learn
The course covers:
- Understanding dermaplaning and realistic treatment outcomes
- Skin structure, skin types and conditions
- Client consultation and skin assessment
- Indications and contraindications
- Infection prevention and hygiene
- Safe blade handling and sharps disposal
- Preparing the client, skin and treatment area
- Correct blade angle, skin tension and controlled technique
- Safely dermaplaning different areas of the face
- Areas requiring caution or avoidance
- Managing minor nicks and treatment reactions
- Dermaplaning aftercare
- Treatment frequency and ongoing skin planning
Online Theory
Complete 5 comprehensive online modules, each followed by a knowledge check. A minimum score of 80% is required for each quiz.
Once your theory is complete, you will progress to your classroom practical training.
Classroom Practical Training
Your practical session includes:
Tutor Demonstration → Supervised Live Model Treatment → Practical Competency Assessment
You’ll have the opportunity to practise professional dermaplaning technique under supervision and demonstrate that you can perform the treatment safely and effectively.
Entry Requirements
Learners must hold either:
- Level 3 Beauty Therapy, or
- Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology
You must also hold or obtain appropriate professional treatment insurance before offering dermaplaning treatments to clients.
Accreditation & Certification
IPHM Holistic Accredited
Your certificate is awarded following successful completion of the required online learning and practical competency assessment.
Completion of the online theory alone does not qualify you to perform dermaplaning treatments professionally.
